Lesson title: Cat Breeds

Goal: To give students insight into the diversity of cat breeds by detailing several popular breeds and characteristics related to appearance and behavior.

Objectives:

1. To examine the popular species of companion cats.

2. To identify the characteristics of common companion breeds.

3. To understand which breeds are appropriate for different settings and uses.

Lesson Plan: Week 6- September 20th-24th

Lesson title: Dog Behavior and Safety, continued

Goal: To help students gain a basic understanding of dog behavior.

Description: Students will learn to understand the importance of animal behavior in ethology. Also, students will learn about pheromones, hormones, external factors and learned behaviors which affect and animal’s behavior as well as being able to describe the importance animal behavior has on human psychology and social sciences.

Objectives:

1. To assess the importance of studying animal behavior in ethology.

2. To analyze the factors affecting animal behavior.

3. To describe the importance animal behavior has on human psychology and social sciences.

Lesson title: Animals & Society

Goal: To gain basic understanding of animal rights vs. animal welfare and laws put into place to protect animals.

Description: Information on different types of animals and their classifications, animal rights founders, groups, animal welfare groups and laws put into place to protect animals are provided in this presentation. Students will also learn to understand the difference between animal rights and animal welfare and the different laws which have been created to protect animals.

Objectives:
1. To identify various animal types and their roles in society.

2. To understand the difference between animal rights and animal welfare.

3. To identify and interpret laws which have been put into effect for the protection of animals.

Lesson Plan: Week 1- August 16th-20th

Lesson title: Benefits & Responsibilities of Owning Companion Animals
Objective:

Many people do not realize the responsibilities of owning a companion animal. It usually takes a lot more work than they expect. This presentation discusses both the benefits and responsibilities of owning companion animals, as well as the yearly cost of common companion animals. In addition, animals’ roles in society and new pet owner resources are discussed.

Lesson title: Who are You? Who am I? Welcome to Ag!
Objectives:
– Students will be engaged as a class and develop a relationship with our class.
– Students will connect and engaged on their online platform that will be utilized all year.
– Students will collaborate in team building activities.
– We will analyze the expectations of the course.
